“I really want to move to the Carolinas, but I need to find a job first!”
It’s a statement we hear frequently in the Client Relations Department of Allen Tate. The truth is, you really need a plan to relocate anywhere. A job is a great place to start. So, what should you do first?
- Freshen up your resume – include your desire to relocate.
- Start networking with people you know have connections in the Carolinas. After all, it is estimated 60% of jobs are found by networking!
- Post your resume on job and career boards such as CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com and Indeed.com.
- Research local firms in your industry and utilize their job boards. Utilize the Chamber Websites to identify potential companies of interest.
- Lastly, utilize social media sites, such as LinkedIn and Twitter, to network with others in your industry.
After you have landed the interview and have determined the position is a mutually good fit, then it’s time to think about relocation plans. If your new employer does not offer relocation assistance, you will need to decide if you will be needing assistance of a full-service mover or a “do it yourself” mover

Definitely a good place to start, Regina. Something else to consider is that in many cases, a relocating buyer who is starting a new job with a different company may need to be on their new job and in receipt of a 30 day pay history before closing on their loan.
