The Carolinas are known to be home to many of the top golf courses in the world. But what isn’t that well known is that the Thornblade Club in Greer, S.C., is fertile cultivating ground for the top golfers in the world.

This Mother’s Day, the Wells Fargo Championship PGA golf event played out at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, N.C. It featured one of the most exciting finishes, especially if you were a member of Thornblade. Both leaders, Jonathan Byrd and Lucas Glover, call Thornblade their home course. It is an hour from their alma mater, Clemson University.

Taking a closer look at Thornblade, it may be home to more professional golf champions than any other club in the world. The course designed by Tom Fazio is also home to Jay Haas, PGA Senior Tour Member. His two sons, Bill and Jay Jr., are currently competing on the PGA Tour. Other current PGA Tour players who call Thornblade their home course include: D. J. Trahan, Charles Warren, Brent Delahoussaye, Matt Bettencourt and Justin Bolli.

The ladies also make Thornblade their home course. Former LPGA Champion and Golf Channel analyst Dottie Pepper can be seen at Thornblade. Although many of the current professionals were from the area originally, playing collegiate golf at Clemson or Wake Forest, the PGA member who traveled the farthest (9,875 miles) to live at Thornblade is one of the world’s top golf coaches. Dale Lynch was voted Coach of the Year by Golf Digest in 2006, and currently coaches PGA Tour members Geoff Ogilvy and Aaron Baddeley. Dale and his family moved to the upstate from Melbourne, Australia.

Have you ever played at Thornblade?
