I love my family. My parents, sibling, and step-siblings are extremely successful in their respective businesses, knowledgeable about current events and always looking for ways to improve their lives and those of others.
With these creative and business-minded people at our Thanksgiving dinner table, it is not a surprise that one of our Thanksgiving traditions is known as “The Million Dollar Idea.”
While we enjoy our traditional turkey, dressing and Nana’s famous mac and cheese, each family member divulges their “Million Dollar Idea” for the year. We critique and discuss whether the idea is commercially feasible, if we think it already exists and if we think it has merit. Usually, several have already been created (but not marketed well), some are considered unlikely to be commercially viable and others are researched vigorously after Thanksgiving dinner. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll come up with the Topsy-tail, the Soda-Stream or the ever-so-famous Snuggie?
This idea has now spilled over to my in-laws’ Thanksgiving tradition. They are busily perfecting their concepts for this year as we speak. Maybe you could even start this tradition with your family!
May you have a productive, meaningful and enjoyable Thanksgiving with family and friends!
